PARENTAL PROGRAMMES
Support. Inform. Helping to accept. Discover potentials
for change. Getting relaxing moments.
INFORMATION AND COUNSELLING
Parents of a child with special needs get support and
advice. Information and guidance on rules and
regulations, local and nationwide services as well as
legislation are easily accessible. Help is provided
through the longstanding experience acquired within the
organisation for the benefit of those who seek advice
and guidance making them feel less lonely and helpless.
Upon parents’ request a psychological support and
counselling service is provided without
psychoterapeutical goals simply to provide a chance to
share and listen to parental experiences as well as
preventing further problems.
MUTUAL SELF-HELP GROUPS
Listening to oneself and to others with the help of a
facilitator to compare and share experiences. Self-help
means that the group is providing the means to a parent
to better understand him/herself as well as providing
strength. Mutual help because a parental experience can
be of help to others.
SERVICES TO HELP
A family can also be a source of stress and problems
different from those given by a disability. To better
cope with both, the organisation provides "A Saturday
Off", a "Summer Camp" and a "Holiday Together" with the
aim of giving parents a chance to devote some time to
themselves and the rest of their family members.
Professionals as well as volunteers supervise these
programmes in accessible places with games and lots of
fun and yet looking after the children constantly and
properly. |
